1. Work to be
I will carry out the work agreed upon, to the best of my abilities at all times, but I shall in no circumstances be liable to the client for any loss, damage or destruction of the item, however caused.
Estimates are free of charge, except for any post, carriage or packing costs which I incur in returning the item if no work is done.
If the client does not accept my estimate, or if I cannot undertake the work for any reason, then the client must arrange collection as indicated below.
An estimate is not
a quotation: owing to the complex nature of the work, I may sometimes
discover unforseen problems once work has begun.
If this will mean a cost increase of more that 10% on the original estimate I will notify the client and await further instructions.
The client will then be entitled to withdraw the item upon payment for the work already done.
I will try to indicate how long the work will take, if required, when making an estimate; but this will be rough guide only and not an undertaking to have it ready within the time suggested.
When the work is completed I will advise and invoice the client.
4. Delivery and
It is the client's responsibility to deliver and collect the item at my premises, or at the premises of an agent acting for me, either for estimates or for work done.
If the client wants me to return an item by post or carrier, I will make a minimum charge of £5.00 which will added to the estimate.
Items sent through carriers or post will be returned in the packaging they arrived in. I can therefore accept no responsibility for inadequate packing on the client's part.
whilst in carriage or in my care.
The item remains at the entire risk of the client at all times. It is the client's responsibility to insure the item for such sums and such risks as the client shall think fit and no insurance shall be taken out by me.
Payment is due on collection, or prior to dispatch, of the item unless otherwise agreed in advance. In some cases half the estimate may be required in advance.
I reserve the right to retain all items until all outstanding sums have been paid.
7. Goods not
collected or paid for.
After 30 days of notification of completion and invoicing I reserve the right to charge a fee for storage and further expenses.
After a further three months I reserve the right to dispose of the item as I think fit, without further notice.
8. Ongoing Care by
The client is advised to follow any written guidelines I may issue for the care and treatment of an item after I have worked on it. If these guidelines are not followed then the appearance of the item may deteriorate.
9. Contact with
food or drink - disclaimer:
Any repaired or restored item is not meant to be in contact with food or drink.
The adhesives and pigments used may be toxic or allergenic and could contaminate any food or drink put on them.
Under no circumstances will I be liable for any injury, illness or damage caused to or by any person as a result of their putting food or drink in contact with repaired or restored items.
I will generally take digital photographs of each piece received 'before and after'. Any such photographs are my copyright to use as I wish - for example on this website; but I will treat any other information about or relating to the client as strictly confidential.
If requested I will send the digital photographs to the client free of charge by e-mail.
